A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere.
What should you expect if you decide to attend a meeting? Our meetings are very relaxed. One of our main goals is to become better speakers while having fun. When you attend a meeting, you'll be greeted by one of the members, they will take some general information from you so they can introduce you at the beginning of the meeting. For the rest of the meeting, you'll relax and take in the meeting to see what we are all about. At the end of the meeting, you'll be asked if you have any questions or comments for the group at which point you can let us know what's on your mind or you can pass. There is absolutely no pressure to speak at all during your visit.
Attend as many meetings at as many different clubs as you feel necessary. Guests are always welcome, and we think you’ll find out quickly enough if, and which club, you should join.
Our Special St Valentine's Day meeting attracted 7 members and 9 Guests tw0 of whom were former members of the Club coming to revisit. They were Bok Lan and Khaja who both said they missed the friendly atmosphere and may rejoin soon.
Two Guests made their project speeches: they were Pinky from A Famosa Toastmasters Club who did her #6 CC speech and Kanagaraj CC from IEM Toastmasters who did a Speech from the Advanced Manual "Story Telling"
The Meeting started with some physical untangling of arms and legs.
We then had 5 Table Topics speakers questions posed by Sandra our VP-E as Table Topics Master.
After the 15 minute break we heard 2 project speeches given by our guests Pinky (A Famosa) and Kanagaraj (IEM TM)
Geoff Andrew our P1 Area Governor was the GE. Geoff's advice to our Club was "You TMIKL as the oldest Club in District 51 has the name and fame. You have the potential to be Distinguished agai, if you work harder to get more members - Maybe people just have not heard much of your activities"
Geoff's advice was well received by all 7 members present.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday 28 February 2012.
10 members and 7 Guests attended the Meeting of Tuesday 10-1-12 which started sharp at 19:30 with the SAA Colonel Nik M Zaki, CL calling the meeting to order and welcoming the President Richard Toh.
