Meeting #764 Curiosity must be kept alive

Distressed call was received from the TME CC Ceyvian Chan, her car had a puncture and she was left stranded at 6.45p.m. 45mins to meeting #764, oh my, can we still disprove Murphy's law?
Only a fire can stop TMIKL from starting on time, definitely not a puncture tire, hence meeting started at 7.30pm sharp, to a T, but without the TME.

SAA, Col. Nik Zaki called the meeting to order, President Rajesh welcomed members and guests, some members were still busy exchanging intellectual opinions about the abrupt departure of some higher ups in Putola Jahya.

Wearing the hat of an invocator, Razwan was inspiring as an adult who urged us to be curious like a 5 year old. That speech could be his #9 speech, Persuade with power!

Humor session was brought forward, Razwan changed his hat, and this time he was the humor master who tickled our bones with a joke about Queen Elizabeth, PM, DPM and also Lim Guan Ying. Yi Kang shared a joke as well, which, surprising got a response from Wendy, who didn't understand. Well, no point explaining a joke, as least she was listening.

TME arrived before 8p.m, Ceyvian looked like she had just completed a half marathon, but still have enough stamina to go the distance and complete full marathon. It must be an eventful day for her, I could see it from her melted make-up.

Rajesh was the boisterous TTM of the day with topics about being curious. However not everyone agreed, because not everyone is Einstein. Do you believe that Einstein is neither clever nor especially gifted? Kerain Shah certainly didn't think so, and dear sir, you have a point! Cyril Jonas was asked about, "First love is only a little foolishness and a lot of curiosity," and he answered like DTM Cyril Jonas. We will all have to wait another day to see Cyril Jonas in a tongue tied moment.

4 brilliant assignment speech speakers, by Rajesh, Cyril Jonas, Amar Pannu and new kid in TMIKL, Jonny Lim.

Rajesh is always the positive, "can do", "no problem", "i will show you how," go getter! He presented us with a conundrum on how to save Malaysia. Both he and PM, Najib Razak was on a mission yesterday. PM was all about saving Malaysia, purging one deputy at a time while Rajesh was about saving Malaysia, one mill at a time. A factual speech with frightening numbers on waste created in palm mills, but we in Rajesh we trust, to convert, "Waste into Energy."

Up next, Amar Pannu spoke about, "#3 Planning a vacation." Leave it to the expert, the man himself. After all, reputable travel consultants are like Google Maps who know better than everyone else and charge only a small fee. (you have the right now to blame somebody when your vacation gone wrong). Amar, it's only your speech #3, and we can see you becoming more confident and at ease with each speech, so join us more regularly.

Cyril Jonas was confident in his speech about,"Free yourself of limitations," which reminded me of this movie, Limitless. We particularly like Cyril Jonas anecdotal story-telling. This time it's about the fate of 2 monks, one who let self-perceived limit shackle him to death and the opposite monk who set himself free because he is his own limit.

Finally new joiner Jonny was the most passionate story teller. Breaking the ice with, "#1 My History," It was a showcase of passion, of self believe and overwhelming in positive energies. Bruce Lee's, "Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one," resonated loud and clear within us now! Good job Jonny.

GE was our own Anthony de Souza, his sharp wits, off the cuff comments laden with many take home pointers for all set the mood to end another marvelous evening at TMIKL. Former President of TMIKL Kwong Chee Seong was in the house! Even he was impressed how far TMIKL has come along since he left. We think he will be back to join us, maybe another stint as the President? Yes, Mr Kwong?

It was also Rhoda's birthday yesterday, we sang a belated Birthday Song, because not a single member's birthday should pass by without a whimper! Oh well, mine was in May, nobody sang me a song, but I still look forward to next year.

Thank you for a great evening, you guys are the ones who made TMIKL great. We are TMIKL, and we are a President's Distinguished Club"

See you at meeting #765!

Rhoda Omar celebrates her birthday and Meeting #764 tomorrow

Rhoda Omar celebrates her x-th birthday today! Nobody bothered to ask what number is the "x", as we will always regard Rhoda as the chatty, exuberant, bubbly, kind, supportive big sister we have in TMIKL. We are sure all the cats who crossed path with Rhoda would also agree. Happy Birthday to you Rhoda Omar!

OK, not so mysterious anymore
Some birthday wishes to our beloved Rhoda Omar are immortalized in this blogspot:-

Rajesh typed Rhoda a birthday song! Rhoda will hear it again tomorrow.

Cyril Jonas, "Happy birthday Rhoda, may you be blessed with many years to look after the cats in world." How did Cyril know that Rhoda is the real cat woman?

Mariel, " who is gonna buy the cake tomorrow? Oh, should have blown the cake with Edward that day...only 1 cake per month."

Ismail Omar, "Kedekutnya."

1MDbee, YWNWA and Meeting #764 on 28th July 2015

An eventful week again, so much of happenings, no time for boredom in Malaysia. The Edge was slapped with 3 months printing ban. Did it get your Toastmasters members talking as well? Can everyone attempt a 2 minutes table topic when asked about their opinion on this? A 20 minutes tongue wagging might be deemed to short for some opinionated TMIKLites.

SOURCE:Malaysia-Chronicles

Of course, we can always look at the brighter side while hoping that the bright light ahead is not an incoming train in a dark tunnel. So, Liverpool was in town  and the Reds was held to a 1-1 scoreline by Harimau Malaysia (roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!). Some cynics among you were lamenting a lackluster performance by Liverpool, but hey, you country needs your support more than Liverpool does. ....Kikikiki.....

Summary of meeting #763, curiosity keeps us going

It was an eventful weekend over at Bukit Bintang where Malaysians, to quote from (in)famous rapper NAMEWEE, witnessed "kaum gangster, kaum pencuri, and kaum police," in action. Hot on the heels of this regrettable incident, TMIKL had meeting #763 which also ushered in the new club officers for year 2015/2016.

TMIKL had reservation on how the turnout would be, alas, curiosity got better of everyone to find out what is in store for them, and to our delight, it was a full house. Among the distinguished guests who graced the meeting were Nisar Latif from Doha,  the return of DTM Victor Ong, Shakira and Maylee from Berjaya TMC, Kanagaraj from IEM TMC and guests who walked in for the 1st time.

TME DTM Ismail Omar had chosen a theme which piqued the interests of all. How apt given that with new leadership is at the helm, members would like to know where the captain will steer us in our toastmaster's journey. New President, Rajesh will surely be galvanized to deliver more given how supportive and how high the standard the members had set for the club.

Table topics were excogitated (WOTD) by Lim Yi Kang and they orbited the curiosity theme. How would you answer in 2 mins if you were asked, Curiosity kills the cat, healthy curiosity kills ignorance, curiosity has own reason for existing, if you are curious, you create opportunity and when you open doors, you create possibility? There was not a tongue tied moment and the curiosity neurons in the minds of the speakers were turbo charged.

There was literally icing on the cake as TMIKLites celebrated DTM Ismail Omar's birthday. DTM Ismail Omar is a towering personality in TMIKL who has always been an impetus to help the club and members accelerates forward, faster and further. Still no sign of slowing down, and we wish him all the best come what may,

We had 5 excellent projects speeches after the break. Razwan Rashidi delivered #3 Understanding the Quiet, quashing the stereotypes we have on introverts. A well researched topic that might as well met the objective of speech #7.

Up next, Stirling Kho teleported all of us to #7 The Cat City. Maybe he can get us all Gambir when he is back in Kuching, The next time we see a girl without make-up on the street, she could be a Sarawakian.

Endrea Hugh brought keys to #9 Unlock your inner piece. "Why always me?" are you consumed by negative energy that you need to purge these pent up emotions? Well, maybe Endrea or meditation could help.

Mariel Fong addressed the power of #9 Delayed Gratification. A new term that most of us just heard. The ability to resist a smaller but more immediate reward in order to receive a larger or more enduring reward later. No, she was not talking about after life.

Sandra wrapped up the project speeches session by teaching us how to become a distinguished club. Sandra sure has many things to share and everyone has got important roles to play!

GE DTM Victor Ong was generous with his praises, and I shall quote him, "TMIKL's meeting epitomize a great toastmaster meeting!" For that, TMIKL will rate him 10/10 for his role and will invite him back again:)

What an exhilarating evening it was, thanks to everyone who made it happened. You will never walk alone (yes, Liverpool is coming to town) in this toastmaster's journey. We will be here for you, just like how the members will be there for TMIKL.

Curiosity keeps us going

A change of theme since the tentative agenda was last released. An eventful weekend at Bukit Bintang, but let's hope this will not be a deterrent for a good turnout as it is now business as usual.

Today, our TME, DTM Ismail Omar will set us free on a journey of curiosity. Will the unknown path ahead be treacherous or will we find a pot of gold at the end of rainbow?

What happen when we open the Pandora box? Will curiosity kills the cat?  Or will it lead us to a discovery full of wonders?

Come join us this evening to find out what lies ahead!

Colorful club leadership from 1st July 2015

Club Officers as from yesterday 1st July 2015:

President: Rajesh Wadhwani, CC.
Rajesh is a leader with entrepreneurship who has set sights to grow TMIKL in terms of number, quality and fun factor. His wittiness will spill over into a fun and happy meeting.

VP-Education: Ceyvian Chan, CC
Who is a better role model than Ceyvian Chan, who, through discipline and perseverance, completed her competent communicator manual in 6 months. Talk about fast and furious. And did you also know that she is a born again TM?

VP-Membership: Stirling Kho
Stirling is a fledging TM who saw the benefits of joining and he is certainly eager to share the benefits of joining with others. Man of many emotions when giving a speech.

VP-Public Relation: Lim Yi Kang, CC
From clueless and now with a little bit of clues. Yi Kang will present a less mysterious TMIKL and make information more easily available.

Secretary: Rhoda Omar, CC, ALB
Steadfast and ever reliable Rhoda Omar will always make sure that meetings run smoothly according to plan or even when there is no plan. I remember the bouts of panic attacks when Rhoda was not around to supervise a meeting.

Treasurer: Ismail Omar, DTM
Club's dynamo, enough said. At home, Ismail Omar has his family, outside, he has TMIKL. A car needs engine to run, a rocket needs propeller to fun and TMIKL needs DTM Ismail Omar.

Sergeant At Arm: Razwan Rashidi- A banker, a thinker, and a dreamer of bigger things to come. DJ-ish voice, good looks and always with informative speeches that make you go, "Eh, I didn't know that."

Immediate Past President: Cyril Jonas, DTM
Mentor you can count on for inspirations, friend you can count on when in need and entertainer you can count on for the feel good factors during a meeting. TMIKL's homegrown national champion in 2013 District level Table Topics contest. Humorous speech contest, evaluation contest, international speech contest, DTM Cyril is just a few steps behind.

TMIKL turned 37 on 1st July 2015.

Hi everyone,

No Facebook reminder to everyone, no big birthday celebration and certainly no expectation for anything in return.

Biggest birthday wish is to continue touching the hearts of speakers, see them flourish into leaders of impeccable character and share their joy from reaping the fruits of their labors in the toastmaster journey.

Happy birthday to me! Eternally grateful to leaders who founded me and I couldn't thank leaders who keep me alive until today enough.

Toast, to many more wonderful years to come!

Sincerely,
TMIKL
